The Claims You've Probably Heard
Search "Himalayan salt lamp" and you'll find claims about air purification, allergy relief, and mood-boosting negative ions. Here's the honest version: there's no solid scientific evidence that salt lamps meaningfully purify air or treat allergies — the amount of moisture a lamp can draw from the air is tiny, and no credible study has shown a health effect at home scale. If you're buying one to fix allergies or asthma, it won't.
So Why Do People Love Them?
Because they're genuinely nice to have around — just not for the reasons the marketing usually claims:
- The light itself. A warm, amber, diffused glow that's much softer than any bulb — great for evenings when you want to wind down instead of staring at bright white light.
- No two are alike. Each lamp is a real chunk of natural salt crystal, so the shape, color, and texture vary — it's a decor piece, not a mass-produced object.
- It's genuinely low-maintenance décor. Plug it in, leave it on low in the evenings, and it just sits there looking good.
Our Take
We sell our Himalayan Salt Lamp because it's a beautiful, warm accent light — not as a health product. If that's what you're after, we think it's a great pick. If you're hoping it'll help you breathe easier, save your money for an actual air purifier.
